When we do our monthly budgeting, one of the things that eat up most of our budget is our electric bills. Electricity is important in every household, so we can’t just leave it unpaid. But there are ways to keep your electric bills at a minimum. Here are some easy tips to lower your electric bill:

Slow down the use of heat-generating appliances in the afternoon

Some of the heat-generating appliances that we should slow down from using during the afternoon or when the temperature is high are iron, oven and stove, to name a few. It doesn’t mean you won’t be using these appliances. You just have to use them during cooler temperature like in the evening. These appliances tend to use more electricity when the surrounding temperature is high. Furthermore, turning off your heat-generating appliances can also make your home a little cooler.

Air dry your clothes

This is perhaps one of the easiest and most effective energy saving tips that we can do. Instead of spin drying your clothes, just hang them outside your home and let the heat of the sun do its wonders.

Don’t forget to unplug your appliances

Don’t let your desktop computer on standby mode for a long period of time. Don’t let your TV on for the whole day and leave it unplugged during the night. Unplug your phone, camera, tablet chargers when not in use. By unplugging appliances that are not in use you are saving as much as Php1,145.01 to Php3,435.04 a year.

Use environment-friendly and electric saving light bulbs

There are a number of environment-friendly and electric saving light bulbs available in the market today. You should invest in these kind of light bulbs. Moreover, we should turn off a light bulb when not in use. Turning off lights you are not using can save you as much as Php12,549.34 a year.

Clean your aircon monthly

Make sure to replace air filters in your aircon at least monthly. An AC system with a dirty filter may restrict airflow causing it to run longer and use more energy.

Once you’ve followed these tips, you will be able to save some money. And this money can be used for other more important things like education, food or additional budget for your dream home. These savings can help you afford that affordable home in a highly accessible location, like Angeles City, San Fernando City, Mabalacat, Porac and other areas in Pampanga.
