Everyone’s really excited to party, share gifts and be with their loved ones this Christmas. But before we get caught up with the excitement of the season, be reminded of some possible safety threats that can put your home and family at risks.

Here are some simple tips to keep your home and family safe this holiday:

Carefully inspect your Christmas decors

Old and/or substandard Christmas lights are often sources of short circuit and fire. Before decorating your home, make sure that your Christmas lights are well-maintained. Do not use old decors with ruined cable lines. Aside from that, avoid buying Christmas lights on untrusted sources. Think twice before buying something that is too cheap for its price. Also, do not accept items with tampered or damaged boxes.

Turn off the lights and other electrical appliances when not in use

Since it is the season to be jolly, expect that all our appliances and lights will be used full blast. Sometimes, because of all the Christmas parties, we often leave the lights and appliances running for a longer period of time. This can cause some of the appliances to overheat. So when not in use, make sure to turn off and unplug them. If you are going to leave the house for a longer vacation, it is highly recommended to unplug all appliances and turn off the lights. Double checking everything can put your mind at ease when you are away from your home.

Double check your home before leaving

During this season, some of us travel. Before travelling make sure to lock your home properly. Aside from checking if you have unplugged all your appliances, it is also highly recommended to double check all your doors if they are properly locked. Also check open windows and other entryways. If you have broken doors or windows, better to fix it before leaving your home.

Buy only fresh goods and check labels for expiration

We tend to splurge during Christmas. That is why, malls and supermarkets create sale and discount promos to attract shoppers. But be careful in buying food or items in bulk or on sale. Always check the labels. Sometimes, some items are already near their expiration. Also check the plastic or boxes for any damage.

These are just some of the safety reminders that we need to remember this season. We, at I Am A Homeseller team recommend living in a safe and secured environment just like the properties developed by Hausland Development Corporation Timog Residences, Nouveau Residences, Mansfield Residences and the newly open Aspire Residences. All these residences have a well-structured entrance gate, that is heavily guarded with 24/7 CCTV.

Living in these properties, you are assured that you can have a peaceful and merry Christmas with your loved ones.
